Basketball Recap: Kennedy Riley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodland over Stockbridge

After flying high against Eagle's Landing Christian Academy last Tuesday, Woodland came back down to earth. The Woodland Wolfpack fell 69-61 to the Stockbridge Tigers on Friday. The Wolfpack have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Woodland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Riley, who posted 19 points and five boards. Riley is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. London Loyal was another key player, going 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Woodland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Woodland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Stockbridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Woodland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-50 loss against Jones County on the 17th. As for Stockbridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-47 win against Union Grove on the 14th.
