Softball Game Preview: Norfolk Christian Ambassadors vs. Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins

For the first time this season, Norfolk Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will head out on the road to square off against the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. Norfolk Christian has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Norfolk Christian is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Hampton Christian Academy, falling 22-3.

Norfolk Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jana Young, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and one RBI. The dominant performance gave Young a new career-high in stolen bases. Maddy Pfeiffer was another, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.

Meanwhile, Cape Henry Collegiate got the win against Georgetown Visitation Prep on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dolphins.

Sydney Larkin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Marshall Daniel was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Isenberg, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Cape Henry Collegiate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown Visitation Prep only managed six hits.

Cape Henry Collegiate's record now sits at 2-0. As for Norfolk Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Norfolk Christian might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Cape Henry Collegiate in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Norfolk Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
