South Newton and West Central squared off in some playoff action  on Friday, but South Newton had to settle for second. They were dealt  a  74-12 loss at the hands of the Trojans. The Rebels have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
 Although South Newton took the loss, they still got scores from  RJ Buckley and  Owen Firkins.
 West Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Connor Huber led the charge by rushing for 87 yards and two  touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 85 yards and a pair of  TDs on only six passes. That's the most  rushing touchdowns  Huber has posted since back in September.  Drea Villarreal was another key rusher, rushing for 124 yards and three  scores on only ten carries.
South Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for West Central,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 9-1.
 South Newton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Central, they will host Bowman Academy  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
