Baseball Recap: Ashdown Wins Going Away Against Harmony Grove

The Ashdown Panthers made easy work of the Harmony Grove Hornets on Monday and carried off a 15-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Walt Jones was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last six matches. Gunnar Altenbaumer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact: Ashdown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ashdown is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Harmony Grove, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ashdown will square off against Bismarck at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harmony Grove, they will face off against McGehee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
