Eagle's View hasn't had much luck against Baker County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Eagle's View has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Eagle's View after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 16-6 to Keystone Heights.
Daniel Chiong and Joel Ortiz stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chiong got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Ortiz went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that Ortiz has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Baker County waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Spartans. The Wildcats not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 19th (when they won 17-2).
Nicholas Chowaniec made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting three hits from his four at bats. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Baker County got a massive performance out of Samuel Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Miller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Burnsed, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Baker County's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Eagle's View, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
Eagle's View's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Baker County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eagle's View continue to outrun the ball?
