The Moorefield Yellow Jackets will challenge the Pendleton County Wildcat at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Moorefield is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering South Harrison just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pendleton County). They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Pocahontas County on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcat considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Jacey Thompson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other pitching news, Abby Judy looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Kinsley Price was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Mitts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Pendleton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Pendleton County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Moorefield, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
