While losing is never fun, Woodland Regional can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Holy Cross is ranked 33rd).
Woodland Regional lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being James Scampolino, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. John Napiello was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Woodland Regional has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Holy Cross, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Woodland Regional will head out on the road to square off against Waterbury Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Waterbury Career Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Holy Cross, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Derby at 7:00 p.m.
