Baseball Recap: Laguna Acoma Has No Trouble Against Zuni

It was a Battle of the Birds when Laguna Acoma took on Zuni on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Thunderbirds 13-2. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Devin Suazo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Suazo was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Laguna Acoma got a massive performance out of Jayden Dailey, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Dailey has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zaiden Sarracino, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Laguna Acoma now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Zuni, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laguna Acoma will welcome Jemez Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warrior have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.38 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Zuni, they will look to defend their home field on the 26th against Bosque at 12:00 p.m.
