The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Travelers Rest by a score of 57-50. For Blue Ridge, this counts as revenge for the 66-57 loss Travelers Rest walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Blue Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nicklaus Poole out in front who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Poole has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Bishop, who scored 15 points.
Blue Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Travelers Rest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eastside at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Eastside presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Blue Ridge in South Carolina (Eastside is ranked 26th, while Blue Ridge is ranked 133rd). As for Travelers Rest, they will head out on the road to square off against Broome at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Broome focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
