Basketball Recap: Elkmont Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ester Marcial and Mollie Slaton

Elkmont lost against Athens Bible back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Elkmont Red Devils took a 64-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Athens Bible Trojans.

Despite the loss, Elkmont had strong showings from Mollie Slaton, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 19 points, and Ester Marcial, who went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points and three steals. What's more, Marcial also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Savannah Williams was another key player, putting up four points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Elkmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.

Elkmont's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Athens Bible, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Elkmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-40 win against Brindlee Mountain on the 3rd. As for Athens Bible, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-29 victory against Lindsay Lane Christian Academy on the 3rd.
