The Carmel Padres waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Oakwood 65-46. Given Carmel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Hawks are ranked 760th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jackson Lloyd, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Ashe, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Carmel's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Oakwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Carmel will head out on the road to challenge the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salinas is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Oakwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
