Reagan County is 5-0 against the Wildcats since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Reagan County Owls will head out on the road to take on the Water Valley Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Reagan County has nine straight wins, the Wildcats have ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Reagan County stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ozona 66-38 at home. Given Reagan County's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Lions are ranked 1289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reagan County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarrett Brown, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Brown hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Kason Brown was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Water Valley ended up a good deal behind the Eagles on Friday and lost 53-35. Water Valley has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Reagan County pushed their record up to 23-6 with that win, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Water Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Reagan County against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 83-28 win. With Reagan County ahead 54-18 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
