The Brookfield Central Lancers will head out to challenge the Menomonee Falls Phoenix at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brookfield Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
Brookfield Central will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Germantown, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lancers never let the Warhawks get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Wednesday.
Not much got past Norma Glisczinski, who gave up just five hits to keep Germantown off the board. Glisczinski has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lexi Eichhorn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Bodor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Brookfield Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Menomonee Falls entered their tilt with West Bend West on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-2.
Ally Bichler made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 11 hits. Bichler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Alex Selear was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Elise Warnock, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Brookfield Central's record now sits at 11-6. As for Menomonee Falls, their record is now 9-14.
Menomonee Falls' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Brookfield Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Menomonee Falls, though, as they've been averaging 12.4 hits. Given Brookfield Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Phoenix will need to find a way to close that gap.
Brookfield Central was able to grind out a solid win over Menomonee Falls in their previous meeting back in April, winning 16-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
