After losing to the Omaha North Vikings the last time they met, the Elkhorn South Storm decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Elkhorn South walked away with a 60-48 victory over Omaha North on Friday.
Elkhorn South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexa Eddie led the charge by scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Burke, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Omaha North's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Milani Drake, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Drake is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Ayanna Hill was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The victory got Elkhorn South back to even at 8-8. As for Omaha North, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Elkhorn South will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln East at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln East is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Omaha North, they will head out on the road to take on Fremont at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Fremont is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
