After two games on the road, Springfield is heading back home. They will take on the St. Charles Catholic Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Springfield has not done well against St. Thomas Aquinas recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Springfield took down St. Thomas Aquinas 53-36.
Emersyn Neal was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Culbertson, who scored six points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Charles Catholic had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 39-35 victory over Ascension Christian on Friday. The victory was just what St. Charles Catholic needed coming off of a 58-8 loss in their prior contest.
Springfield has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for St. Charles Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18.
Springfield strolled past St. Charles Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 50-36. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does St. Charles Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
