Softball Recap: Mora Has No Trouble Against East Central

Mora won the last time they faced East Central and things went their way on Monday too. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-7 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrey Athey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Athey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Mora got a massive performance out of Ava Olson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Olson a new career-high. Rhiannon Ashworth was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Mora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Central only posted an OBP of .389.

The win made it two in a row for Mora and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for East Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Mora didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-2 loss against Aitkin on the 6th. As for East Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 13-0 defeat against Braham on the 6th.
