The Penney Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a 58-42 bruising from Lawson. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Penney of the 58-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lawson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joshua Ramsey, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramsey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Willoughby, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Penney has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Lawson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Penney will take on Lathrop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lathrop is coming into the game with three straight losses on the road, meaning Penney will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Lawson, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Polo at 7:30 p.m. on February 12th. Hopefully Lawson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
