3A Region 4 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Trinity Presbyterian extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 4 this week by beating Thorsby, 57-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Wildcats.
Trinity Presbyterian took down the Rebels 57-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Allen Wood threw for 226 yards and four touchdowns in the win.
Randy Ragsdale's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Preston Etheredge chipped in 91 yards. Will Clements helped Trinity Presbyterian's passing attack out by catching four balls for 44 yards.
Robert Adams was the best wideout in the league this week as the Wildcats bested Thorsby. Adams tallied four receptions for 92 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Wood of Trinity Presbyterian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 897. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Comer's Caleb Duffee has rushed for 320 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Javaris Whetstone. The Central of Coosa County star has 27 catches for 391 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region 4 this week will be when the Tigers take on the Wildcats. As it stands, Comer is in third, while Trinity Presbyterian is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Anthony Jacks' team and the Wildcats face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Tigers comes in having scored 132 this season, while Trinity Presbyterian has scored 169. Comer scored 7 points last week as it lost to Leeds.
Tarrant made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,141 from 11,671. The advance stemmed from a 26-20 victory over Central of Coosa County last week.
