The Woodstock Wolverines lost against the Sequoyah Chiefs back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Woodstock took a serious blow against Sequoyah, falling 49-14. While losing is never fun, Woodstock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Sequoyah is ranked 63rd).
Woodstock's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Wadsworth, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading Sequoyah to victory were Jackson Hancock and Kolby Martin. Hancock picked up 93 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Martin threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Woodstock's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Sequoyah, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Woodstock does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sequoyah will look to defend their home field on Friday against Alpharetta at 7:30 p.m.
