The Pikesville Panthers waltzed into their match Friday with nine straight wins dating back to last season but they left with ten. They took down Loch Raven 51-32. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pikesville also won the last time the pair played back in March.
Leading Pikesville to victory were Maya Chase and Mariah Jones-Bey. Chase scored 16 points, while Jones-Bey scored nine points along with five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of KA'nai Pyatt, who scored six points along with three steals.
Meona Boykin and Maya Gordon certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Boykin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Gordon scored six points along with 13 rebounds and seven steals.
Pikesville's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.27 points. As for Loch Raven, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Pikesville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Colonial at 5:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Colonial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. As for Loch Raven, they will head out on the road to face off against Mercy at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Mercy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Loch Raven in Maryland (Mercy is ranked 30th, while Loch Raven is ranked 88th).
