Mid-Indiana recap October 29, 2013
Western extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Indiana this week by beating Mississinewa, 41-28. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Panthers.
Taylor lost to Southmont 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Cody Hicks was a passing and rushing force as Maconaquah lost to Fairfield. Hicks' favorite target this week was Trevor Hagan, who caught 4 passes for 54 yards.
Hicks was a beast in the backfield as the Braves fell to the Falcons.
Hicks was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 218 yards on 32 carries as Maconaquah topped Lawrenceburg. Kyle Dinn also contributed to the rushing game with 54 yards on the ground.
The Huskies' Monte Reed and Grant Weatherford have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Reed has thrown for 1,585 yards this season, while Weatherford has 41 catches for 982 yards. Hicks from Mark Hartman's team leads the league in rushing with 1,678 yards.
Hamilton Heights' Weatherford is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 18 receiving yards against Indian Creek to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 41 catches for 982 yards.
In 166 carries Steven McBride has put up 916 yards this year.
Mitch Street's team led Mid-Indiana in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Tigers. Reed threw for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 16 yards in the win.
