The Hicksville Aces will challenge the Edgerton Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Hicksville easily dispatched Ayersville on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Aces fell just short of Fremont by a score of 11-9 on Friday. The loss put an end to the Aces' undefeated start to the season.
Hicksville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Bassett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Wyatt Bell was another, scoring a run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgerton). They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Hilltop on Monday.
Kellen Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Sanchez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Noah Weaver and Jackson Flower did most of the damage at the plate: Weaver scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Flower scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Edgerton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Hicksville fell to 2-1. As for Edgerton, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Edgerton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hicksville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Edgerton, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Hicksville's hitters?
Hicksville suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Edgerton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Aces have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
