South Stanly and North Stanly are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Bulls are taking a road trip to square off against the Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Stanly will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
North Stanly's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: South Stanly hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bulls' pitcher stepped up to hand Gray Stone Day a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Bulls might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Gray Stone Day's batters probably weren't too happy with Abby Smith, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up two walks).

Meanwhile, North Stanly hadn't done well against Union Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Comets had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 1-0. The game was the first time the Comets have beaten the Cardinals on their field since March 15, 2024.
South Stanly's record is now 20-2. As for North Stanly, their record now sits at 7-12.
Everything went South Stanly's way against North Stanly in their previous meeting on April 2nd, as South Stanly made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulls since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
