2A Region 7 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Jackson Turner of Enterprise ran for the longest rushing play in 2A Region 7 this season against Clarkdale last week. Turner scampered for 71 yards on the play and finished with 264 on the day as his team bested the Bulldogs.
Taylorsville was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Mize. The Tartars came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
Taylorsville's dynamic duo of Terrian Page and Rodregus Ducksworth proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Page threw for 64 yards and one touchdown and Ducksworth had 64 yards receiving.
Caleb Stallings made the biggest impact on defense this week as Enterprise defeated Clarkdale. The senior recorded one fumble.
Bay Springs's Jonnas Spivey and Brandon Jones have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Spivey has thrown for 1272 yards this season, while Jones has 22 catches for 366 yards. Dylan Taylor from Kelly Jimmerson's team leads the league in rushing with 692 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mize takes on the Bulldogs. Kenny Robinson's team is in second place, while Enterprise is in fourth place.
Matt Caldwell's team extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 7 this week by beating the Bulldogs, 26-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
