The Brennan Bears waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 13 straight wins but they left with 14. They blew past Jay 85-59. Brennan has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Brennan was led to victory by Camden Cowgill and Kingston Flemings. Cowgill scored 27 points, while Flemings scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Flemings has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Ward, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camrin Garza, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Garza is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jarrius Jackson Jr was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Brennan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Jay, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.
Brennan will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Harlan at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Harlan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matches. As for Jay, they will head out on the road to face off against O'Connor at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (O'Connor is ranked 163rd, while Jay is ranked 145th).
