Lamar is on a four-game streak of home losses, Park Place Christian Academy a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The two teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Lamar came up short against East Rankin Academy and fell 46-39. While losing is never fun, Lamar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while East Rankin Academy is ranked 14th).
Despite their loss, Lamar saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sarah Dudley Reed, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Aryah Grace, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and four steals.
Park Place Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Wayne Academy 50-20.
Lamar's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-12. As for Park Place Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
