Park Crossing and Lanier are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Park Crossing Thunderbirds are on the road again on Thursday and plays the Lanier Poets at 10:30 a.m. on February 15th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Park Crossing extended their postseason success on Saturday against Spanish Fort. They secured a 72-68 W over the Toros. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Park Crossing relied on the efforts of Jayden Scott, who scored 20 points along with five steals, and Caden Anderson-teal, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Scott continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Frederick Kelly Jr, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, even though Theodore scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, Lanier still came out on top. Lanier pulled ahead with a 57-56 photo finish over Theodore. The win was familiar territory for Lanier who now have three in a row.
Park Crossing is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for Lanier, their victory bumped their record up to 17-13.
Park Crossing beat Lanier 53-46 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Park Crossing since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
