The Mt. Hermon Yellowjackets will look to defend their home court on Friday against the False River Gators at 7:00 p.m. Mt. Hermon will be strutting in after a win while False River will be coming in after a loss.
Mt. Hermon has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 win over Christ Episcopal School on Tuesday.
False River suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 84-49 loss at the hands of North Central. While losing is never fun, False River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while North Central is ranked 90th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jacob Baker, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42.9% of False River's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Graffeo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Mt. Hermon's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13. As for False River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.
Mt. Hermon couldn't quite finish off False River when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 59-56. Will Mt. Hermon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
