Cox is on a four-game streak of home wins, while First Colonial is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Falcons will welcome the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cox is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Cox came out on top against Bayside on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Marlins 5-4. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Marlins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Cox let Lyric Alfier and Alexa Colon run wild. Alfier went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run, while Colon went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Colon has posted since back in March of 2024.
Cox hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, First Colonial never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past Cape Henry Collegiate 13-0. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Maura Haesler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aimee Ord, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
First Colonial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Cox, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cox has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like First Colonial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cox was able to grind out a solid win over First Colonial when the teams last played back in March, winning 6-1. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
