The Liberty Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 58-40 bruising from Palmer. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Liberty has scored all season.
Liberty lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evan Trinidad, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was London Praytor, who scored six points along with 12 blocks and eight rebounds.
Liberty struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Palmer pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.
Palmer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kohen Collins led the charge by scoring four points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Collins has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Weber, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Liberty has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Palmer, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Liberty has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Discovery Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Discovery Canyon will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Palmer is on the road again on Monday and play against Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Harrison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Palmer is ranked 15th).
