The Destiny Christian Wildcats will challenge the Santa Fe South Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Destiny Christian barely beat Wellston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Tigers 14-4 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Zach Wooten made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5. He has become a key player for Destiny Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, Racyn Hyden was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Destiny Christian is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-9 otherwise. Jase Blackwell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Destiny Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe South waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Spartans. The Saints' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Steve Morales was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Morales was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Albert Gallegos and Drew Cabrera did most of the damage at the plate: Gallegos scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cabrera scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Diego Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Santa Fe South's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-15. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Destiny Christian, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything went Destiny Christian's way against Santa Fe South in their previous matchup back in March, as Destiny Christian made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
