The Ironwood Eagles had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They slipped by Centennial 48-47 on Thursday. The victory was just what Ironwood needed coming off of a 57-26 defeat in their prior match.
When it comes to explaining why Centennial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Akasha Prpich. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That was a full 53.2% of Centennial's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaleia Young was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
Ironwood's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Centennial, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ironwood will take on Paradise Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Paradise Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for Centennial, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Kellis at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Kellis' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
