Jefferson had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it ten. They lost 18-6 to the Kennedy Commanders. If the Jeff Saint were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Commanders when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
AJ Alvarado was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and three stolen bases.
In other batting news, Ed Sanchez and Damion Martinez did some serious damage despite the final result: Sanchez got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Martinez went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Yahir Del Valle also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
As for Kennedy, their record now sits at 3-9. That 12-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Kennedy's side, they got a massive performance out of Marcelo Nevarez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Nevarez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Rojas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Jefferson will be playing in front of their home fans against Alameda at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Jeff Saint's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 14.3 runs per game this season. As for Kennedy, they will head out to face off against Manual at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.8 runs per game on average), something the Commanders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
