Gulf Coast have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will be playing at home against Palmetto Ridge at at 7:00 PM on Friday. Gulf Coast are expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the match prepared for a fight.
The match between Gulf Coast and Barron Collier two weeks ago was not a total blowout, but with Gulf Coast falling 13-30, it was darn close. Gulf Coast's defeat came about despite a quality game from junior Justin Mattia, who picked up 91 yards on the ground and accumulated 266 passing yards. Mattia has now scored at least one touchdown in the past three games.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Palmetto Ridge, and their game last Friday only extended their streak of losses to three. They were completely outmatched, falling 14-56 to Barron Collier. Palmetto Ridge were down by 14-42 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Palmetto Ridge's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Gulf Coast defensive front that amassed five sacks against Barron Collier, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
