After a string of three wins, the West Milford Highlanders's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kennedy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West Milford of the 54-37 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2015.
When it comes to explaining why West Milford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Avery Vacca. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurel Space, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
West Milford's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Milford will take on Lakeland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to face off against Bergen Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bergen Tech is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
