Clinton Central is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Tri-Central a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Clinton Central Bulldogs will host the Tri-Central Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Clinton Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Clinton Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Faith Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 10-9.
Nuriah Harvey put in work no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. Harvey was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carly Davison made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Tri-Central came up short against Elwood on Monday and fell 14-9.
Claire Conrad was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Amelia Pfoutz was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Clinton Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Tri-Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Tri-Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Clinton Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Tri-Central, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Clinton Central keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Clinton Central took their win against Tri-Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
