Tolar hasn't had much luck against Breckenridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tolar Rattlers are taking a road trip to take on the Breckenridge Buckaroos at 5:00 p.m. Tolar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Tolar's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Dublin with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Rattlers have beaten the Lions the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.
Lillie Uselton was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Uselton was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Allyson Dobbs and Senne Imel did most of the damage at the plate: Dobbs scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3, while Imel scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Dobbs has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Massey, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Tolar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .682. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Breckenridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Comanche on Wednesday. The one-run effort marked the Buckaroos' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Not much got past Olyvia Perez, who gave up just five hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Comanche off the board. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Perez.
At the plate, Breckenridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joni Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Breckenridge pushed their record up to 5-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Tolar, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Tolar hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Breckenridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Tolar came up short against Breckenridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2019, falling 12-9. Can Tolar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
