The Cascade Cadets are taking a road trip to square off against the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cascade is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Parke Heritage on Thursday as they made off with a 20-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cadets.
Davis Hart made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hart was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Marcus Hobson and Toby Savini did most of the damage at the plate: Hobson went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Savini got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Savini has posted since back in April of 2024. Cort Hubner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Lafayette Jefferson got themselves on the board against Muncie Central on Saturday, but Muncie Central never followed suit. They didn't even let the Bearcats on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Bronchos sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Like Cascade, Lafayette Jefferson also got a great game from a two-way player: Mason Pechin. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Pechin has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ben Pickering was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Preston Robertson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Cascade's record now sits at 4-1. As for Lafayette Jefferson, their record is now 8-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cascade has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Lafayette Jefferson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
