University Prep is 9-1 against Lassen since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The University Prep Panthers will be playing at home against the Lassen Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in University Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, University Prep gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. Everything went their way against West Valley as University Prep made off with a 75-49 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory University Prep has posted against West Valley since May 6, 2021.
University Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Baron Grooms out in front who scored 17 points along with two steals. Grooms continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Rundle, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lassen waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They really took it to Central Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-18 win on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-7.
University Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Lassen, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
University Prep took their victory against Lassen when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 66-44. Will University Prep repeat their success, or does Lassen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
