Millard South is 1-9 against Omaha Central since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Millard South Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Omaha Central Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-50, which was the final score in Millard South's tilt against Bellevue West on Saturday. Millard South was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-23.
Millard South's defeat came about despite a quality game from Will Cooper, who scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds. Cooper scored a full 34% of Millard South's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Bernie Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Omaha Central had to settle for a 56-54 defeat against Westview on Saturday.
Daleron Thomas put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 25 points along with 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Holmon, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 1-1 season records intact.
Millard South couldn't quite finish off Omaha Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 and fell 47-45. Thankfully for Millard South, Awit Mamer (who scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
