The Pioneer Valley Panthers were the 53-49 winner over the Morro Bay Pirates when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Pioneer Valley took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates.
When it comes to explaining why Pioneer Valley lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Inderveer Toor. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Toor has scored all season. Jordan Teniente was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Morro Bay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sergio Mendoza led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Campbell, who scored 13 points.
Pioneer Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Morro Bay, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer Valley will challenge the Bearcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morro Bay, they will head out on the road to face off against the Conquistadores at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cabrillo will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
