The Star Valley Braves will head out on the road to take on the Cody Broncs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Star Valley sitting on six straight victories and Cody on 11.
Even though Star Valley has not done well against Green River recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Star Valley enjoyed a cozy 58-43 win over Green River.
Kenlee Engelhardt was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheridan Coles, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Cody stacked a fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Natrona County 55-22 on the road. Given Cody's advantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Natrona County is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Star Valley back to even at 7-7. As for Cody, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.
Star Valley suffered a grim 55-30 defeat to Cody in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Star Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
