Baseball Recap: Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Beats Sibley East for Their Third Straight Win

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Sibley East Wolverines. For the Thunderbirds, this counts as revenge for the 10-3 win the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Luke Bastian was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Rieke, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's record now sits at 6-12. As for Sibley East, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop will face off against Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Thunderbirds' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sibley East, they will head out to face off against Maple River at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
