Basketball Recap: Newman Grove/St. Edward Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Allyx Forre and Kailey Patzel

Newman Grove/St. Edward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 42-34 to the Palmer Tigers.

Despite the defeat, Newman Grove/St. Edward had strong showings from Kailey Patzel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 boards, and Allyx Forre, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards. Patzel is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Newman Grove/St. Edward smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

Newman Grove/St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Palmer, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.
