Softball Recap: Babcock Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Babcock had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Golden Gate Titans as they made off with a 13-1 win. The Trailblazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Lexi Haley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Emmie Barritt was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Elizabeth Taylor was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Babcock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Golden Gate only posted an OBP of .294.

Babcock's record now sits at 9-3. As for Golden Gate, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Babcock will be playing in front of their home fans against Lehigh at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Golden Gate, they will venture away from home to face off against Everglades City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
