The South Plaquemines Hurricanes pushed their score all the way to 71 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Phoenix by a score of 73-71. South Plaquemines lost against Phoenix in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-51 score last time.
South Plaquemines' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Byrsten Prout, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jovita Lightell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
South Plaquemines now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Phoenix, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plaquemines will face off against E.D. White at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Phoenix, they will head out on the road to face off against Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
