The Terra Linda Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the St. Bernard's Crusaders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Terra Linda earned a 21-14 victory over San Rafael. The victory was just what Terra Linda needed coming off of a 55-7 loss in their prior game.
Terra Linda can attribute much of their success to Garrett Pardo, who rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns, and Jonah Truett, who rushed for 152 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Dimitri Kokalis did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals.
The team's defense also helped out by holding San Rafael to a paltry 177 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Terra Linda's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. In that department, Pardo was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, St. Bernard's got themselves on the board against Eureka on Saturday, but Eureka never followed suit. They breezed by the Loggers at home to the tune of 37-0. St. Bernard's might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 23 points or more this season.
Wyatt Simoni was his usual excellent self, rushing for 50 yards and three touchdowns. Simoni hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.
Terra Linda's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5. As for St. Bernard's, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
