The Biloxi Indians stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past D'Iberville 58-34. Given Biloxi's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while D'Iberville is ranked 74th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Biloxi was led to victory by Aaliyah Davison and Zaniya Johnson. Davison scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Johnson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Merideth, who scored seven points along with four steals.
D'Iberville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Teeale Wells, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Simpkins, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Biloxi's win was their 12th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. As for D'Iberville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Biloxi will take on St. Martin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Martin is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for D'Iberville, they will be playing at home against Harrison Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
