Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tyler Winter and Elijah Foster Lead Houlka to Victory

Houlka's game on Tuesday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 45-38 win over the Vardaman Rams. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Houlka was led to victory by Elijah Foster and Tyler Winter. Foster dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 boards, while Winter dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Winter a new career-high in steals (three). Dee Simon was another key player, putting up five points and five assists.

Houlka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Houlka has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Vardaman, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houlka will take on Myrtle in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Vardaman, they will venture away from home to challenge Hickory Flat at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
