The Tennyson Lancers typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Mt. Eden Monarchs proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Lancers 64-50. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but Mt. Eden was the better team in the second half.
Tennyson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paolo Barroga, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Lorje, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Mt. Eden is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Tennyson, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
Mt. Eden won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ukiah at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Ukiah presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Eden in California (Ukiah is ranked 189th, while Mt. Eden is ranked 598th). As for Tennyson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Encinal at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
